My congressman's smarter than your congressman.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Rep. Alan Grayson. The guy's arrogant, brash, and often tactless, but he's also one of the only Democrats in Congress who actually gets why we sent him there. The more Grayson steps up, the more I forgive him his faults and applaud his cojones.

Here he is schooling the GOP on their idiotic (and unconstitutional) legislative attempt to punish ACORN.

Alan Grayson: lovable asshole?

I hit Alan Grayson the other day for being an asshole. I thought his statement that Republicans want Americans to die quickly was inappropriate rhetoric. Grayson's a jerk. I knew that before I voted for him. However, I posted earlier this morning about the weakness of congressional democrats, and if nothing else, Alan Grayson has proven he's not weak:

I wish Alan Grayson had also apologized for his previous rhetoric, but his statement above took balls. I respect him for that, and apparently, a lot of other people do too. Maybe sometimes it takes an asshole to move the debate?

My congressman's an asshole; my governor a liar.

Politico reports that Rep. Alan Grayson (for whom I reluctantly voted) has said on the House floor tonight that, "Republicans want you to die quickly." I'd say Republicans care more about defeating the president politically than about solving the problem or that they care more about protecting corporate interests than helping the poor, but I'm not gonna say they want you to die quickly. That's just ass-hat talk.

Meanwhile, the Orlando Sentinel reports that Gov. Charlie Crist is touting some false accomplishments while campaigning for the Senate, claiming credit for our overall educational improvements, while Florida's been graded an F for college readiness. Course, even Republicans know Crist is an empty shirt.

Sigh. Wish we could find some real leadership in Florida.
