Knight Rider Season One on iTunes!

Wow, a post about industry trends for a change. This is extremely exciting news, and not only fans of David Hasselhoff. NBC Universal has now inked a deal with Apple to make their programming available for download on iTunes. Their initial offering is already an embarrassment to rival ABC which only offers a handful of their biggest hits. Already you can download shows from NBC's sister networks, like SciFi's Battlestar Galactica, and shows from the vault, such as Dragnet and yes, Knight Rider. I was just talking to a guy in Jacksonville the other night about the future of television, when he said that the networks needed to open up their libraries and make old favorites available on demand. Well, looks like that's where we're heading.

Why am I so excited about this (considering my computer is too slow to run the iTunes video programs)? Because this is yet another indicator that the old industry model is imploding on itself. Machiavellian control of media is a dying concept from a bygone era. It will not be long now before any artist can make his media available on iTunes.
