Reading Rainbow is dead (but don't take my word for it)

How did I miss this? Reading Rainbow, a staple of my childhood, aired for the very last time on Friday. Had I known this was coming, I would have watched the final send-off while sobbing into a bottle of booze.

There's hope for us nostalgic bibliophiles though. LeVar Burton has announced via Twitter that he's developing a web-based Reading Rainbow for adults. He better get the damn theme song rights, is all I'm saying.
