His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain

I don't own any Peter, Paul, & Mary CDs, but when I was very young, "Puff the Magic Dragon" was one of my favorite songs. My mother would both play the group's records and also sing the song to me herself. Come to think of it, it's a damn depressing song to sing to a kid, but it's a vivid memory, nonetheless. I bring all this up because Mary Travers died tonight of cancer, and I felt it only proper to pay tribute.

Below you'll find "Puff the Magic Dragon" followed by a particularly badass rendition of "I Shall Be Released" performed by Mary, Mama Cass, and Joni Mitchell, which if nothing else, will make you remember what popular music's supposed to be like.

Wonderful. And I love the clothes and makeup, too. I want Mary's dress...
